COURSE TOPICS
- Gun safety
- Familiarization with a semi-auto rifle operation (AR platform) with iron or red dot sights
- Fundamentals of marksmanship: grip, stance, sight alignment/sight picture, trigger control and breathing
- Movement to/from shooting positions
- Shooting while moving
- Shooting from behind cover/barricades
- Shooting strong side/support side only
- Shooting drills that will reinforce the fundamentals of rifle marksmanship
EQUIPMENT LIST
- Semi-auto AR platform rifle
- Rifle sling (adjustable 2-point rifle sling preferred)
- Magazines (3 min, 5 is ideal. More if you have them)
- Sturdy belt, IFAK, magazine pouches, and pistol holster or Tactical/duty kit7
- Magazine pouches
- Sturdy belt or safety-rated tactical ”riggers” belt with cobra buckle and D-ring
- Eye protection
- Hearing protection8
- 1,000 rounds of 5.56mm ball ammunition
***Any of the above items can be rented/provided with advance notice. Recommend bringing a ball cap, water bottle with cap/cover, comfortable weather-appropriate clothing (can be warm or cool on the range depending on individual comfort level), sunscreen, and bug repellent.

11 Helmet: recommend a helmet that you will be expected to use in your daily duties such as an OPSCORE or Team Wendy helmet. The Bump helmet version from these two vendors is also recommended. Fall rated climbing helmets designed for rock/mountain climbers are more than acceptable if they’re in your inventory but not required.
